Acquisition of Digium by Sangoma Makes Astricon a Must-Do Communications Developer and Service Provider Event

DIDx has participated in at least a dozen AstriCon events since 2005. We believe it is of great value, so read on some news from different sources like David Duffet (director of worldwide Asterisk community) and Malcolm Davenport (senior product manager at Digium.) This is a very important year for Astricon since Digium was acquired by Sangoma.

New Owners, New Ideas, New Initiatives

As the new owners of AstriCon, Sangoma is bringing new ideas and initiatives to improve Asterisk and to grow the user community. Wondering how things have/will change with Asterisk? One thing for sure, Asterisk will not go away. It is happily deployed by millions of enterprises, developers and service providers still!

“Ask Them Anything” – Special Info Session at AstriCon
In addition to all of the great content at AstriCon, Sangoma and Digium will co-host a special session on Tuesday, October 9 to talk about the opportunities created by our new combined company.

David Duffet and the team that produce AstriCon know you have a lot of questions about Asterisk, FreePBX, and the future. So they’ve assembled a great collection of very senior people so that you can Ask Them Anything. This panel is the place to get those answers. David Duffet will preside over the discussion.

AstriCon is the perfect place to network, mingle and reunite with Asterisk community members from around the globe. We believe the Astricon 2018 class of speakers will make this event even more special. So come for all of the great sessions, the amazing networking and fun – and learn about the opportunities created when Digium and Sangoma became one entity.

Deb Bryant, Open Source & Standards @RedHatOpen; civic advocate of open government and open data is the Oct 9-11 2018 Astricon keynote speaker.

Tribute to Enswitch’s Alistair Cunningham, Who Helped with DIDX 1st Call Script in 2005

Tribute to Enswitch's Alistair Cunningham, Who Helped with DIDX 1st Call Script in 2005 from Muntwo Productions on Vimeo.

Did you know Enswitch’s Alistair Cunningham assisted with wholesale DIDX.net original call script in 2005? Listen to him and Suzanne Bowen discuss softswitch benefits, hosted PBX, residential ITSP, number translation & calling card services.

We welcome you to Alistair and DIDX’s Suzanne Bowen discuss:

1. His background in technology and business and his relationship with DIDX when it launched in 2005
2. The highly enabling features and scalability of a softswitch like his Enswitch
3. Enswitch billing choices
4. How his company deals with pressures to use social media and social marketing practically 24/7
5. Which two main open source platforms he uses, why and two of open source communications leaders he admires and appreciates
6. How to start and run a secure, effective telecom service
7. The unique needs of South Africa business as well as his successful South Africa partner Call Connection

He is one of the examples of “keep on keeping on” as open source Asterisk global community director David Duffet described some successful VoIP companies…the ones who appear to not be daunted by talk of “disrupt or you will be disrupted.” The last phrase is a quote from Moshe BT in the same mid 2017 DIDX interview with David and TMCnet and ITEXPO’s Rich Tehrani.
